It’s been an interesting ride for 4* ATH Jaylin Simpson. He started ranked #226 in the country by 247 Composite but fell to #333 over the past 2 seasons. It appeared he might be trending to Ohio State, then Clemson and then Florida State throughout various points in his recruitment. He and his high school teammate, 4* ATH Jashawn Sheffield, both seemed close to committing to the Noles until Jimbo Fisher bolted for College Station. Auburn took full advantage, swooping in and locking down the talented duo. Today, Simpson signed his National Letter of Intent with Auburn.

Simpson mostly played quarterback for his high school team where he basically ran around and made things happen. He’s incredibly quick with the insane ability to change direction at any moment without losing much speed. Auburn wants him at cornerback though there isn’t a ton of tape on him playing DB so it’s hard to speak much to what he can do back there. My guess is he will need a season to improve his technique and master the fundamentals of being an SEC CB before making a larger impact in 2020.
Very excited to watch this young man don the orange and blue over the next 3-4 years.
War Eagle Jaylin!
