Finally, Auburn saw a prospect put an AU hat on today as 3* DL Caleb Johnson announced his commitment moments ago. The talented Georgia native chose Auburn over Florida and quickly sent in his letter of intent to make it official.

Johnson has been a guy on Auburn’s radar for pretty much the whole cycle. The question was always whether or not the Tigers would have a spot for him come signing day. When things went sideways with Caleb Tannor last week that opened up an opportunity and Johnson jumped all over it. Rodney Garner is very high on this kid’s skillset.
Scouting Report
Johnson is a big time athlete. He played mostly linebacker in high school but he will more than likely play on the defensive line for the Tigers. Where though will be interesting to see. My guess is he will end up at strongside defensive end to start but he could grow into a defensive tackle. Love his motor and his athleticism for a guy with his frame. Auburn will need defensive line help in 2019 and I expect Johnson to be an important piece in AU’s next defensive line rotation.
Highlights
The Class
Barring any major surprises, Auburn is done with the 2018 signing class. There is still the chance of adding Rice graduate transfer Calvin Anderson but Johnson was more than likely the last underclassmen addition. It sounds like 3* S Kolbi Fuqua will get to sign as well and will probably have his LOI in pretty soon. Overall, this is a very deep class that hits on a number of important positions. The Tigers might not have closed as strong as they would have hoped and the black hole that is offensive tackle in this class is concerning, but I still think this is one of the better classes Gus Malzahn has signed at Auburn.
War Eagle Caleb!
