Auburn Falls in Polls Again, But Who Cares

We won the SEC.

NCAA Basketball: South Carolina at Auburn John David Mercer-USA TODAY Sports

Auburn won the SEC regular season championship on Saturday, Bryce Brown got back into form with eight three-pointers, and the Tigers got to cut down the nets for the first time since 1999.

Despite all of that, Auburn fell in the rankings because of two straight losses before the win over South Carolina. Of course, Auburn’s last three losses all came on the road, and none of them are unforgivable. When you factor in the shooting slump that the Tigers were in, it’s easy to see why they struggled.

Still, the Tigers are SEC Champs, and I don’t really care about dropping a little bit in the polls. As of today, Auburn’s down to 16th in the AP Poll after being 14th last week.

Tennessee may be a couple of spots ahead of us, but we have the 1-seed in St. Louis.

Also, here’s the Coaches Poll. Same story, we’re 15th, a couple of spots behind the Vols. No big deal, they can enjoy their “SEC Championship” when they watch those highlights of that Auburn win in Knoxville a couple months ago.
