It’s been a good week for the Tigers. Wednesday, Auburn beat out USC and UCLA for a very talented graduate transfer in offensive tackle Jack Driscoll. Friday morning, Auburn landed the #52 overall player in the 2020 class in Kobe Hudson. Today, 4* ATH Jaylin Simpson announced his plans to be an Auburn Tiger in 2019. Not a bad week at all.
At one point in his recruitment, Simpson appeared to be a lock to Florida State. But Jimbo’s departure opened his recruitment back up. South Carolina made an early move but after a trip to Auburn a few weeks ago, everything changed. Since then, it’s been “when” not “if” Simpson would pull the trigger.
Simpson chose Auburn over an impressive offer list that included the likes of Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Ohio State, South Carolina and plenty of others.
Simpson is a dynamic athlete. He plays both quarterback and defensive back for his high school team. Auburn likes him at cornerback and you can easily see why. He’s got great length, quick hips and isn’t afraid of contact. He’s outstanding at playing the ball in the air and is dangerous with the ball in his hands. Simpson’s got a great chance to see the field early for the Tigers.
Auburn now has a pair of cornerbacks committed in Simpson and 3* Cordale Flott. More than likely, the Tigers will look to land one more if possible and will aim for an elite talent to join the pair such as 5* Andrew Booth. Simpson might not be the only Frederica Academy talent to join the Tigers in the 2019 class as Auburn is hard after his teammate 4* ATH Jashawn Sheffield who could also commit soon. Very good chance there will be more good news for the Tigers in the coming days.
War Eagle Jaylin!
