3-Star Auburn Commit Cordale Flott Flips to LSU

Auburn loses their first commit of this cycle

Well after landing former LSU commit 4* DL Jaren Handy last week, I guess it’s only fair LSU gets one themselves. 3* CB Cordale Flott has apparently flipped his commitment from Auburn to LSU, first reported by SECCountry.

Flott’s commitment to Auburn came out of the blue in mid April. Just the day before he had named Florida his top school. However, on the day of his commitment he told Rivals.com that he was 85% committed at the time. Not exactly what you want to hear from a new commit....

So this flip isn’t a surprise for Auburn either especially when Flott was the only Auburn commit to visit another school during Big Cat Weekend. There were reports earlier this week too that both Flott and Auburn had started looking elsewhere. The Saraland native is a talented player with tremendous upside but for once Auburn’s isn’t desperate for DB targets. LSU is in desperate need for corners this class after only signing one in their 2018 class. In the end, I think this move will work out well for both sides.

As for Auburn’s own DB recruiting efforts, they will be just fine. They are still locked in a fight with Clemson over 5* Andrew Booth, who could go either way at the moment. The Tigers are also the top school for stud athlete 4* Zion Puckett who could play anywhere in the defensive backfield or even flip to WR if needed. They just landed Jashawn Sheffield yesterday who could play safety for them at the next level. Auburn also hasn’t given up on Alabama commit 4* Christian Williams who told 247 he plans on taking an official visit to the Plains at some point.

The two other names to watch are 3* Nehemiah Pritchett and 4* Adonis Otey. Both are very speedy DBs who showed out at recent AU camps. In fact, Pritchett and Flott went head to head in their high school teams’ spring game a few months ago and the consensus following that matchup was Pritchett might have gotten the better of Flott.

Overall, this staff has done a very good job hanging onto prospects but it’s not rare to lose one each cycle. Auburn has flipped one commitment this cycle already in Jamond Gordon, landed a former LSU commit in Jaren Handy and are close to completing the flip for Justin Osborne. Bottom line, while it stinks to lose a talented kid like Flott, Auburn’s 2019 class is still on pace for an exciting finish.
