Jones has been one of, if not the top name on Auburn’s board at the offensive guard spot for awhile now. The GA native has been a frequent visitor to the Plains this spring and summer. He chose the Tigers over Florida and Mississippi State but also held offers from Alabama, Clemson, Florida State and plenty others. He’s Auburn’s 3rd OL commit of this class and 6th from the state of GA.
Highlights
Scouting Report
Jones is a brute. He’s a big kid at 6’4” 341 lbs with outstanding upper body strength that allows him to easily control defenders. He’s at his best when asked to fire off the ball and seal a defender either to the outside or the inside to open up a run lane. Jones though does move well for his size and had a strong showing as a pass protector in Atlanta a few weeks ago at the Rivals 5* Challenge. More than likely, he will need a year to reshape his body but he’s got the skills to find his way onto the field early in his career. Auburn has done a really good job in recent seasons identifying and developing talent at the guard position. Jones looks like a good bet to continue that tradition.
The Class
Jones gives Auburn 13 commits and bumps them up to the 12th ranked class in the country according to 247 Composite. More than likely this is just the start of a lot of good news to come for the Tigers over the next two months. The Tigers are hoping to add 5-6 more names to the commit list by kickoff.
War Eagle Keiondre!
