Don’t look now but Auburn’s off to a scorching start to the 2020 recruiting class. Saturday, after Auburn’s BBQ event 4* LB Demouy Kennedy announced he wants to be a Tiger.

The Theodore, AL native already holds offers from the likes of Georgia, Kentucky, LSU and Texas A&M as only a rising junior. He had recently stated that he was probably going to wait a bit before committing but that obviously changed after his most recent trip to the Plains. Travis Williams continues to get it done on the recruiting trail.

Highlights

Scouting Report

Besides having an awesome first name, Kennedy has a chance to be one of the top linebackers in the 2020 class. Supposedly, he ran a 4.5 forty time at one of Auburn’s camps and honestly watching the tape it’s believable. The 6’2 205 lb thumper flies to the football and makes his presence felt in a very painful way upon arrival. What also stands out is his ability to move laterally, square up the ball carrier and make a great form tackle. I imagine he will bulk up some at the next level given his frame. Between Zakoby McClain in the 2018 class, Owen Pappoe in 2019 and now Kennedy in 2020, Auburn is adding some serious speed to it’s linebacking corps.

The Class

Look, I know its hard to get all that excited about kids that just finished their sophomore years in high school but the recruiting world is changing. With the new early signing period and early official visits, the recruiting calendar has been bumped up. Auburn seems to be adjusting to the times and are on their way to building another outstanding class in 2020. All four of Auburn’s current commits are rated as 247 Composite 4*s and all four are ranked in the top 285. The Tigers 2020 class is ranked #5 in the nation, #2 in the SEC and sports a 0.9313 average player rating. That’s a heck of a way to start a recruiting class.
