Countdown to Kickoff: 33 Days

I have no idea why I am writing about this....

Gather round Auburn fans! Today, we are gonna discuss Scott Loeffler and the 2012 Auburn offense....

I’ve made a huge mistake....

2012 is the only season since 2009 that Gus Malzahn was not running the offense. In his place, the guy that totally coached Tom Brady was in charge, Scott Loeffler. No more of that dumb, hurry up, spread offensive attack. No, Auburn was going back to that sweet, grown man football. You know, that kinda of football where the QB sticks his hands under the center’s butt a bunch. It was clear that Malzahn guy had worn out his stay and his offense was clearly the main issue with Auburn in 2011....

We all know what happened in 2012. Once Malzahn departed, Gene Chizik’s program fell to pieces. As much as I like Gene Chizik the man and defensive coordinator, I will never miss Gene Chizik the head football coach. He not only lost the majority of his football games that final season but it was clear he lost the team off the field as well. I have only once ever left an Auburn football game early, the 2012 Texas A&M game. shivers

But in one of those 3 victories there was some exciting stuff. Down 14-7 late in the 2nd quarter, Auburn would put together 2 scoring drives, both ending in 33 yard touchdowns. One, a throwback TD pass from Quan Bray to Kiehl Frazier. The other, a hail mary to Sammie Coates that gave Auburn fans a taste of what was soon to come.

Ok, I promise to never speak of this season again.

33 days till kickoff! War Eagle!
