This is a big one people.
One of the top athletes in the southeast, 4* Zion Puckett, announced his decision via Twitter this afternoon. That decision? The Auburn Tigers.
My college decision is made! Everyone please watch my commitment video, which I shot with @Keith247sports today. pic.twitter.com/SCK2qUG8Ve

Puckett is an elite football player and it’s reflected by his offer list. Alabama, Georgia, LSU Ohio State, Tennessee and pretty much anyone else you can think of pursued Puckett HARD. But Auburn’s patented family feel and the opportunity to see the field early was too much to pass up. Oh and he’s also planning on majoring in mechanical engineering.
Yesterday, Auburn landed 3* DE Colby Wooden. That’s two really big booms on back to back days as we creep closer to kickoff.
Highlights
Scouting Report
There aren’t 103 players better than Zion Puckett. There just aren’t. Puckett already has SEC DB size at 6’0” 200 lbs and has great length. He’s not afraid to bloody his nose a little and lay a lick on a ball carrier. What I really like though is he squares up his target and wraps up instead of just trying to knock someone out with a shoulder. With the ball in his hands, he’s a threat to score on any play. He’s got that next level gear that allows him to quickly go from standing still to blowing by defenders with great angles for touchdowns. When the ball is in the air, it’s his, doesn’t matter if he’s on offense or defense. He could honestly play anywhere in Auburn’s secondary but my guess is he starts off at cornerback.
The Class
Auburn’s coaching staff viewed Puckett as the same type of impact player as 5* CB Andrew Booth. He’s someone that vaulted up the lists of many coaching staffs after the spring evaluation period. His stock is quickly growing on recruiting services too as Rivals recently ranked him the #114 player in the country after not having him in the top 250 to start. Do not be surprised if by signing day he’s a top 50 player.
Puckett has a very good chance of helping Auburn’s secondary the minute he steps on campus next season. When you look at what Auburn did on the trail last year at DB and what they are doing this year, you can’t help but get excited about the future. Got a feeling quite a few more Auburn DBs will be joining Carlton Davis in hearing their names called early in future NFL Drafts. That’s a welcome change on the Plains.
War Eagle Zion!
