IT’S 2-FOR-1 DAY ON THE COUNTDOWN! For the 14th day we will head up to Rocky Top for the 2013 version of one of Auburn’s older rivals, the Tennessee Volunteers. First, the obvious. Number 14 Nick Marshall had a day for the ages, only going a pedestrian 3 for 7 for 35 yards and a TD with a pick, but adding 214 yards rushing and giving the Tigers three total touchdowns. The back half of the two’fer is a nod to the Auburn Special Teams unit. Mid way through the 2nd quarter with the score tied at 13, Michael Palardy boomed a solid 54 yarder to Chris Davis…yes, that Chris Davis, and our favorite punt returner took it 85 yards to the house to put Auburn in the lead for good. After the half and Auburn holding a 34-20 lead, Palardy set up to being the 2nd half, but Corey Grant finished all doubt to this one by taking it 90 yards for score and put the Tigers up 41-20 and making for a much roomier feel for the fans in Neyland Stadium. So, the back half of your two’fer is the 14 points off of Auburn Special Teams*. Enjoy the highlights from the last time the Tigers and the Vols locked it up!
*Yes, I know that two touchdowns are 12 points…deal with it.
