Hey! Real football!

Each week I will do my best to recap how Auburn commits performed the previous weekend. Compiling all these stats is a bit of an arduous task due to the fact that there isn’t a central location for finding this information and often times individual stat records are non existent. I should note that a number of other sites including Rivals, 247 and AL.com put together similar lists and I will update this article with any numbers I see there that I couldn’t find myself.

I wanted to do both commits and targets but that’s a whole lot of google searching that I don’t feel like doing. So let’s stick with those prospects who have publicly said they wanna be Auburn Tigers.

Auburn Commits

Next Week: Tucker (0-1)

  • 4* WR George Pickens (Hoover) - Pickens’s season will begin this weekend on ESPN at noon ET vs his future QB Bo Nix. Will be a must watch game for AU fans. Keep an eye on Hoover 4* QB Robby Ashford, he’s one of Auburn’s top QB targets in the 2020 class.

Next Week: Pinson Valley

  • 4* QB Bo Nix (Pinson Valley) - As noted above, Nix will open his senior year on ESPN vs a loaded Hoover squad. Keep an eye on his teammate Ga’Quincy McKinstry. Has a chance to be a top prospect in the 2021 class, already has an Auburn offer.

Next Week: Hoover

  • 4* CB Zion Puckett (Spalding, 0-1) - Hours after committing to the Tigers, Puckett opened his season vs arch rival Griffin. Unfortunately, his squad fell short losing 19-13 with all 19 points for Griffin coming in the 2nd half. According to AuburnSports.com, Puckett had four tackles and two receptions totaling 42 yards. Check out his highlights below.

Next Week: Carver (0-1)

  • 4* DL Jaren Handy (Hattiesburg, 1-0) - Handy’s squad knocked off Petal in a wild 35-26 affair. The big man recorded 5 tackles with 3 going for a loss and sack. He also got a chance to touch the football, powering in for a short score out of the Wildcat. Auburn’s next Wildcat QB?

Next Week: Laurel (1-0)

  • 4* OG Keiondre Jones (Calloway) - Jones and his Callaway Cavaliers will take on the Opelika Bulldogs this weekend to open the season. There is a ton of D1 talent on this Cavs squad including a big time name to track in the 2020 class in 5* ATH Tank Bigsby.

Next Week: Opelika

  • 4* ATH Jashawn Sheffield (Frederica Academy, 0-1) - Frederica faced a very good Charlton County squad and fell 28-21. According to AuburnSports.com, Sheffield had a pretty pedestrian day recording only one reception for 10 yards and two carries for 15. You can check out his highlights below.

Next Week: Valwood (1-0)

  • 4* CB Jaylin Simpson (Frederica Academy, 0-1) - Simpson had a 2 yard touchdown in the loss to Charlton County. You can see Simpson in action below.

Next Week: Valwood (1-0)

  • 4* TE Tyler Fromm (Warner Robins, 1-0) - Fromm is recovering from an injury and is not expected to play in the first 3-4 weeks of the season. Warner Robins got whooped by Tift County 29-0. LOL just kidding, they won 40-29. Shoutout to Kotov Syndrome for catching my derp.

Next Week: Locust Grove

  • 3* OT Justin Osborne (IMG) - The nation’s #1 ranked pre season high school program were humbled this past weekend in an exhibition contest. The Columbia Tigers took it to the Ascenders, winning 33-30. That score doesn’t actually paint the whole picture, both squads pulled their starters after the opening series in the 3rd quarter. IMG was down 33-13 at half so ya it was MUCH worse than that score indicated. Not a good look for a team LOADED with D1 talent.

Next Week: Pine-Richland

  • 3* TE Luke Deal (Emerald, 0-1) - Tough day for Emerald as they fell to Ninety Six (yes that’s the high school’s name) 62-46. Deal caught an 8 yard touchdown pass. I haven’t been able to find anymore numbers on him from the game.

Next Week: T.L. Hanna

  • 3* DE Colby Wooden (Archer, 0-1) - Archer lost a heartbreaker to Milton 19-14 at the Corky Kell Classic. It was unsurprisingly a defensive struggle. Wooden had a big time play on 4th & 3 to stop a drive. I couldn’t find any overall stats for him though. I watched some of this game and was impressed with Wooden’s quickness and motor. However, he has a tendency to get over aggressive in the run game, opening up cutback lanes for the tailback. But he was clearly a disruptive force for much of the night.

Next Week: BYE

  • 3* DL Jamond Gordon (Meridian, 0-1) - Tupelo rallied from a 10 point deficit in the 4th quarter to knock off Meridian 34-24. No stats found yet on Gordon.

Next Week: Davidson

  • 3* WR Ja’Varrius Johnson (Hewitt-Trussville) - Johnson and his Hewit-Trussville Huskies will open their 2018 campaign on ESPN vs Cedar Grove at 3:30 PM ET. Georgia commit 5* WR Jadon Haselwood and Alabama commit 4* DT Rashad Cheney are the stars of Cedar Grove while Johnson is teammates with four Alabama commits. Don’t be surprised if Johnson is one of the stars of the day. He’s got a chance at a huge year in 2018.

Next Week: Cedar Grove (1-0)

  • 3* C Jakai Clark (Grayson) - As mentioned above with Pappoe, Grayson was off this last weekend. Clark is expected to be the Rams’ starting center.

Next Week: Tucker (0-1)

  • 2020 4* WR Kobe Hudson (Troup County) - Hudson is expected to play QB for Troup County this fall. He’s an explosive athlete who I expect to put up video game numbers this season.

Next Week: Ridgeland (0-1)

  • 2020 4* DL Andy Boykin (Troup County) - Boykin continues to flirt with UGA but has stayed solid for now. He’s a talented DL prospect who can play all across the line, something Rodney Garner loves in his players.

Next Week: Ridgeland (0-1)

  • 2020 4* LB Demouy Kennedy (Theodore) - Big time opening game for Theodore as they travel to take on Daphne. Kennedy is a kid that has a chance to really rise in the rankings this fall. Big time player.

Next Week: Daphne

  • 2020 4* Buck Quandarrius Robinson (Jackson-Olin) - Robinson played mostly safety last year but this time around will get to play on the edge where he’s expected to star for the Tigers in the future. Robinson has one of the highest upsides of any current Auburn commit. Excited to watch him in action this fall.

Next Week: Fairfield

  • 2020 3* DT Damarjhe Lewis (Griffin, 1-0) - In a battle of Auburn commits, it was Lewis’s group that got the better of Zion Puckett and Spalding High School. Lewis was a disruptive force all night. According to AuburnSports.com the most recent AU 2020 commit recorded eight tackles, four going for a loss. Watch his rating rise over the next two years. You can see why in the video below.

War Eagle!
