Don’t look now but Auburn’t outstanding 2019 DB class might be about to get even better. Late last night, 4* DB Cam’Ron Kelly announced on Twitter he has some big news planned for this afternoon.
Big news on my Mom's Birthday tomorrow at 1pm ! Stay tuned... ✌

The 6’1” 190 lb athlete out of Virginia visited the Plains for Auburn’s BBQ event late July. He left that event incredibly impressed with the Tigers and with tentative plans to use his final official visit for another trip later this fall. Well it appears he was in fact VERY impressed with the Tigers and Auburn has now become the favorite to land his pledge in possibly the very near future.
There’s no understating how huge of a coup this would be for Auburn. Kelly is a premier athlete from outside of Auburn’s usual recruiting territory. He was previously committed to Virginia Tech and has been close to landing with Penn State and Clemson in the past. He holds over 40 offers and has day one impact potential. For Auburn to make up this amount of ground off a single visit is incredible and a testament to what’s happening on the Plains right now.
It’s not 100% sure thing he commits today but that seems to be the direction this is headed. If he does in fact pick the Tigers that would be Auburn’s seventh 4* DB commitment in the last two cycles. He would join 4*s Jashawn Sheffield, Jaylin Simpson and Zion Puckett. You add that foursome to what Auburn brought in last year along with the emergence of Noah Igbinoghene this offseason and you can’t help but feel excited about the future of Auburn’s secondary.
Double Boom? Probably Not
While Auburn could get some really good news this afternoon, I don’t expect it to be a double boom type of day. Local Auburn product, 4* LB Mohamoud Diabate is set to announce his commitment this evening. While Auburn was late to the game in offering Diabate they have at least made up enough ground to land in his final 5. However, it’s the Florida Gators who appear to be the favorite at this time.
I suspect the Tigers will stay hard after him even if he picks the Gators. Auburn would like at least one more linebacker to pair with Owen Pappoe, preferably two. More than likely, Auburn will have to flip somebody to accomplish that mission. I don’t bet against Travis Williams so I expect that happens at some point. Who that is remains to be seen. But who knows, maybe T-WILL already has a surprise ready for Auburn fans this evening.
Either way, Auburn fans should be on the lookout for at least one “Boom” today.
War Eagle!
