Auburn welcomes Southern Miss to the Loveliest Village tomorrow for a 3 pm CST kickoff, and in case you have to miss the game for some reason, you can just read ahead on what we know is going to happen and it’ll be no problem.
AUBURN vs SOUTHERN MISS - 3:00 pm CST
“I think this one will seem a bit frustrating again, but there’s a reason behind it. Auburn’s offensive brain trust is attempting to develop a rhythm with their offensive line. I think you’ll see a better showing from the line, and hopefully a couple of shot play connections from Stidham. It would be nice for things to get clicking before the first true road game of the season. I’ll say Auburn just misses a cover as Southern Miss has enough of a passing offense to move the ball and hit the over. Auburn 41, USM 14.” - James Jones
“Another 25+ point spread for Auburn? Enjoy it because it won’t be that large next week. This should be an Auburn win easily. I am actually more interested to see this game after last week. Auburn looked a bit lost on offense and a few quotes from the Coordinators peaked my interest this week. Look for Auburn to transfer to more of the short passing game to supplement the run and see if that jump starts the offense. Something needs to change because next week is a test Auburn must pass if it has any hope of surviving what looks like a shark-infested November. Auburn 44-13.” - Drew McCracken
“This is a reminder to everyone that Auburn is still considered the 10th best team in the country. A lot of people were highly frustrated with last week’s game but here’s a few things to consider: the team came off a very tough loss and lost 2 key offensive guys to transfer. The defense played great as did the punt/kick return game. While things haven’t gone well on offense, this is still a very good football team that I think is going to be able to put it together as the season rolls along. So to quote Aaron Rodgers: R-E-L-A-X!! Looking at this game, our defense should have a very successful day against this Southern Miss offense and it would be nice to see the defense get a few sacks on this QB. Offensively, Auburn has got to find some answers this week before going on the road for the first time next weekend. A big play or two early would be nice just to give the offense some momentum. I think the younger guys will continue to evolve and this team will play better this week than they did last Saturday night. Auburn 38, Southern Miss 7.” - Will McLaughlin
“HOW CAN SUCH A BAD TEAM BE 4 TOUCHDOWN FAVORITES TWO WEEKS IN A ROW?! Oh, maybe Auburn’s not so bad. Auburn covers, take the over, the offensive line takes off like skyrockets. Everyone has a rushing touchdown (Whitlow, Martin, Shivers, and CoxCat). I also think we will see Auburn’s defensive line living in the backfield most of the game considering SoMiss’ Qb isn’t the most mobile fella. Auburn 45, SoMiss 10 .” - Son of Crow
“I expect Auburn to continue to work on their execution this week, hopefully with better success. I see no reason that Auburn won’t cover, and then some, this week. Tigers 55-13.” - AU Chief
“Alright Tiger fans! Get your hands up for another vanilla offense game! With Southern Miss’ uncanny ability to create turnovers on defense, you can bet the game plan is going to be about ball security and execution. I just can’t see Gus breaking out the deep balls or trick plays in this game. The defense will be geared up to hunt for a few sacks, but if they aren’t able to get home, QB Jack Abraham has the arm to make Auburn pay. Give me the Tigers 41-10.” - Ryan Sterritt
“Auburn’s offense is giving everybody heartburn but truthfully this is nothing new under Gus. Heck, I think AU is actually in a BETTER spot this year at this point in the season than they were at this point in any of the previous three years. Defense is truly elite, special teams are special again & AU seems to know WHO they wanna use on offense. It’s now about executing and given Gus’s track record, this is the weekend it clicks. I think like the Mizzou game last year, AU’s offense FINALLY connects on a 3-4 explosive plays and that leads to a 500+ yard performance & some good feelings for some heading into Starkville next week. Southern Miss’s offense should give Auburn’s DBs plenty of reps. There’s some struggles early but AU gets rolling & spanks the Golden Eagles 45-13.” - AU Nerd
“This could be the game that we see things click in multiple areas. Southern Miss will throw the ball a ton, no doubt, but Jack Abraham is immobile as can be, so I image the defense is going to get some sacks without having to add a ton of pressure. If we can leave guys back to defend the pass, then I would bet we get some turnovers as well. Kevin Steele’s done a fantastic job of rotating in young guys to play in important spots, and they’ve flourished for the most part. I’m especially impressed with the defensive backs, because at times it’s been a totally underclassmen unit making huge plays in the back end. I don’t think Southern Miss scores in double digits after we knock around the quarterback and pick off a pass or two. On offense, things will be fine. With a healthier group and an extra week to work on the offensive line cohesion, I bet the protection is a lot better than it was on Saturday. This is the definition of a get-right game now, because while we won, we really didn’t do too much of that against Arkansas. Stidham throws for a couple touchdowns, we get multiple backs in the end zone, and the offensive line shows some real growth. Auburn 41-7.” - Jack Condon
