When you’re #9 and you beat #6, good things happen.

Auburn knocked off Washington 21-16 on Saturday afternoon, starting the season with the biggest win of the opening weekend and putting a huge dent in the PAC-12’s playoff hopes.
The Tigers jumped up two spots in the Associated Press rankings to #7, while the Huskies dropped down to #9. Auburn leapt over Miami, who lost hard at #8, while Oklahoma rose to #6 in the poll.
From the top down, it’s
- Alabama
- Clemson
- Georgia
- Ohio State
- Wisconsin
- Oklahoma
- Auburn
- Notre Dame
- Washington
- Stanford
- LSU
- Virginia Tech
- Penn State
- West Virginia
- Michigan State
- TCU
- USC
- Mississippi State
- UCF
- Boise State
- Michigan
- Miami (FL)
- Oregon
- South Carolina
- Florida
LSU had the biggest jump of 14 spots after they rocked Miami 33-17 on Sunday night, while the Hurricanes dropped 14 spots to #22. Virginia Tech rose eight places after their win over Florida State yesterday, while both Penn State and Michigan State lost ground after close wins over Group of Five teams.
Right now, Auburn’s schedule still contains the #1 (Alabama), #3 (Georgia), #9 (Washington), #11 (LSU), and #18 (Mississippi State) teams in the country, with three of the four games left on the slate away from home. If Auburn takes care of business against Alabama State on Saturday, and LSU beats Southeast Louisiana, then we’ll likely have a top ten matchup come September 15th at Jordan-Hare Stadium.
War Eagle!
