Recruitments can be so different. Some kids are found as early as 7th or 8th grade, land offers from every major school before they start high school and spend the next 4 years being wooed by all the top programs in the country. Then there are those like 4* RB DJ Williams who earns interest from some G5 and FCS schools but there isn’t much buzz around his recruitment. Until one day his film lands in the right hands and his recruitment explodes in a short period of time.
Then there are people like 2* LB Kameron Brown who are known thanks to a high profile family member (Derrick Brown), produce every year in high school but due to physical limitations outside of their control never see their recruitment take off. All they do is work hard and hope that someone, somewhere is willing to take a chance on them. On January 4th, Auburn took that chance and extended an offer to Brown.
Today, after a weekend official visit to the Plains, Brown decided to make it official. He wants to be an Auburn Tiger.

The first thing that jumps out when turning on Brown’s tape is the young man craves contact. Brown isn’t looking to just make the tackle on arrival, he’s looking to send a message. Inside the box, Brown is a force, weaving his way through traffic and making play after play on ball carriers. However, the concern with Brown is his athleticism. He’s a guy that might struggle to make plays in open space or be able to run with SEC backs/tight ends in coverage. That’s a major reason he’s only had two offers from FCS programs.
Brown could end up at the 3-back spot (Chandler Cox’s old position) but considering the lack of linebackers in this class and Auburn landing a graduate transfer for that position this weekend, I don’t think that move would be immediate. I fully expect the young man to get a chance to prove he’s an SEC linebacker. Given his physicality, effort and leadership, don’t be surprised if Brown proves a bunch of people wrong and finds his way onto the field for the Tigers.
Auburn now has 18 commits in the 2019 with all but Brown, grad transfer Jay Jay Wilson and newly minted 5* WR George Pickens having already signed. The Tigers would like to add one more linebacker to join Brown and 5* Owen Pappoe in this class. Still plenty of work to be done to finish off this strong 2019 signing class
War Eagle Kameron!
