At #32 on today’s countdown, we look back Chris Denson’s 27 points against Iowa State in Ames back in 2013. This game was part of the first SEC/Big 12 Challenge and the two teams will meet again on January 25th in Auburn, a game that will be the Cyclones first ever visit to Auburn. This was not a pretty game for Auburn.
Total Points: 27
Date: December 2, 2013
Opponent: at #17 Iowa State
Final Score: Iowa State 99 Auburn 70
Denson’s 27 point outing was one of the few positives to take out of this game for Auburn. Chris was 8-17 from the field, and 11-13 from the free throw line, and also had 8 rebounds.
Auburn got out to a 12-5 lead in this one, and led 15-14 after Denson converted a 3-point play with 10:29 left in the half. After that, it was all Cyclones. Iowa State went on a 16-2 run, the only points from Auburn coming from a Denson jumper. Denson had 14 of Auburn’s 28 points at halftime but the Tigers trailed 47-28.
Auburn never got any closer in the 2nd half as the Cyclones had a dominating performance to win by 29, in a game where they led by as much as 35.
Tomorrow at #31, we will talk about a 27 point game from an Auburn player you’ll see on this year’s roster.
