3* WR Elijah Canion made some folks a little nervous this past week when upon leaving his official visit to the Plains he said “we’ll see” in regards to whether or not he would end up with the Tigers. Dan Mullen and the Gators tried to make a strong late push for the flip with some in home visits but in the end it wasn’t enough to convince the Chaminade standout to change his decision. Now he’s officially an Auburn Tiger.

Canion was apart of the flurry of commits Auburn landed over the summer. It was a heated battle between the Tigers and Gators with both program hosting the talented wideout on official visits during the spring. In the end, he just clicked with Auburn and helped continue a hot streak that really carried this class through the summer.

He’s an intriguing prospect who plays at one of the powerhouses in Florida at Chaminade-Madonna Prep. It’s also the high school alma mater of Iron Bowl legend Shaun Shivers. Canion was stuck behind the likes of Alabama WR Xavier Williams and Penn State WR John Dunmore early in his career. This year he got to be the man and put together 500+ yard campaign. Unfortunately, he has no publicly available highlights but you can see the skillset in his junior tape.

Canion is a big kid at 6’4” 201 lbs with a wide wingspan. Not necessarily a burner, he’s more than capable though taking it to the house if he gets a seam. He’s at his best when the ball is in the air and he’s able to use his length to get up over top of DBs. Has the chance to be a redzone weapon down the road.

War Eagle Elijah!
