Auburn entered this weekend with 0 linebackers committed. They will leave this weekend with two on the board. Not bad for a weekend’s work T-WILL...
4* LB Cameron Riley has long been believed to be an Auburn lean. Today, he made things official announcing his pledge to the Tigers.
Riley boasts an impressive offer list with Mississippi State and Texas A&M considered Auburn’s top contenders. However, this race has been Auburn’s to lose for some time. Travis Williams honed in on Riley very early on in the cycle and never relented.
A long, lanky defender, Riley excels in the open field and as a blitzer off the edge. He plays with relentless pursuit and has a knack for forcing turnovers. At 6’4” 205 lbs, he’s a big kid with plenty of room still to get bigger without losing explosiveness. If you wanna play for T-WILL you better be fast or physical. Riley is both.
After seeing a whirl of decommits that left its class decimated in terms of defensive talent, Auburn has had quite the turnaround the past couple of days. They landed 4* LB Trenton Simpson yesterday and then were able to close the deal with Riley today. All of a sudden, spots have gotten really tight at linebacker. It will be interesting to see if the Tigers can use that to their advantage and wrap this part of their class up by the end of summer.
Riley makes it 5 commits in the month of June. Chances are good more are on the way. 4* WR Ze’Vian Capers is on an official visit this weekend though speculation is he will wait until early July to announce his decision. Per AuburnUndercover’s Keith Niebuhr, 4* TE J.J. Pegues, 4* DT Nazir Stackhouse (UGA Commit) and 3* LB Rodney Groce are all on campus as well this weekend and all are names to track in the coming weeks. After a rough couple of months, things are looking MUCH better for the Tigers on the recruiting trail in 2020.
War Eagle Cameron!
