We’ve waited awhile to hear some news regarding Auburn Basketball’s schedule for next season but we got another piece of it on Friday morning.
Auburn will be traveling to Annapolis, Maryland, home of the United States Naval Academy, to take on Davidson Wildcats out the Atlantic 10 Conference Friday, November 8th at 5PM on CBS Sports Network. East Carolina will play host Navy in the second game of the doubleheader in Annapolis.
This is the sixth year of the Veterans Classic, held right around Veterans Day and at the beginning of the college basketball season. This will be the 2nd meeting all-time between the schools as Auburn won the only matchup back in 1951.
“To give our guys the opportunity to play in the Veterans Classic and a chance to see first-hand our great service academies was a great opportunity,” said Auburn head coach Bruce Pearl.— Navy Athletics (@NavyAthletics) June 28, 2019
This will be a solid early test for Bruce Pearl’s squad, likely a Q1 win if the Tigers can defeat the Wildcats. Davidson went 24-10 last season and return all of their primary contributors from last year including Austrian sophomore forward Luka Brajkovic, Icelandic senior guard Jon Axel Gudmundsson and junior guard Kellan Grady who tested the NBA waters before electing to return to Davidson after averaging 17.3 points a game last year.
Auburn’s opponent in the 2019 Veterans Classic, Davidson, is ranked #22 here: https://t.co/8iJLwhhrzo— #DoItForChuma (@aubawn) June 28, 2019
Auburn will be the 5th SEC team to play in the Veterans Classic joining Tennessee, Florida, Vanderbilt and Alabama.
Davidson joins Lipscomb, North Carolina State, and South Alabama on the schedule along with 4 games in the Legends Classic. We should find out soon who Auburn will face in the SEC/Big 12 Challenge on January 25th as well. But for now, we’re down to 130 days until the start of college basketball! War Eagle!
