On a day where a flurry of basketball scheduling news was announced, Auburn got in on the fun as well.
Four basketball matchups in total were announced on Thursday, all part of the Legends Classic.
In the 2 preliminary games, both held at Auburn Arena, the Tigers will first host the Cal State Northridge Matadors, out of the Big West Conference, on Friday November 15th (The night before the Auburn/Georgia football game). The Matadors are coached by former Alabama Head Coach Mark Gottfried.
On Monday November 18th, the Tigers will welcome the Colgate Raiders, out of the Patriot League, to town. The Raiders made the NCAA Tournament this past year after winning the Patriot League Tournament and fell 77-70 to Tennessee in the 1st Round. They return guard Jordan Burns, who scored 32 points against the Volunteers.

The scene shifts to the Big Apple the following week as Auburn will first face the New Mexico Lobos, out of the Mountain West, on Monday November 25th. The next day, they will face either the Wisconsin Badgers, out of the Big 10, or the Richmond Spiders, out of the Atlantic 10. Both of these games will be played at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
With today’s announcement, that leaves 4 spots that are still unknown in Auburn’s non-conference schedule. They will play Davidson in the Veterans Classic on November 8th, host Lipscomb and N.C. State, and travel to South Alabama. They also have a game in the SEC/Big 12 Challenge on January 25th with an opponent still TBD.
We should be learning soon of more scheduling updates. Last year, Auburn’s full non-conference schedule came around the latter portion of July with the full schedule released in late August. War Eagle!
