Auburn landed a commitment on June 1st that got this roll started. In July, things picked back up again when the Tigers had back to back booms on July 1st and July 2nd. We had to wait an extra day in August but it appears things aren’t slowing down this month either. Today on Twitter, 4* CB Marco Domio announced he was picking the Auburn Tigers over a long list of impressive suitors.
I gotta make up for all them nights that my momma cried, I’m going in I’m putting everything on the line. ++ pic.twitter.com/wxFAwlpcdK— Marco Domio (@MDomio_) August 3, 2019
Domio is ranked as the #5 JUCO player in the 2020 class by 247 Composite and the #2 JUCO cornerback. His offer list is impressive including the likes of Alabama, LSU and Texas A&M. It was the purple shaded Tigers who were long thought to be the team to beat but that changed after Domio decided to drive 10 hours last weekend to attend Auburn’s big recruiting event. It seemed clear that Domio could soon be joining this AU class.
If you are gonna sign a JUCO cornerback to challenge for a starting spot then Domio is a durn good one to get. A long athlete with impressive speed and quickness, the Blinn College standout has those “fluid hips” scouts drool over. He also demonstrates the willingness to provide run support and does so with great technique. I wouldn’t be shocked if he was a 1 & out kid, he’s got that type of upside.
It’s wild to think two weeks ago there was a lot of concern over Auburn’s DB recruiting. Auburn’s picnic event revealed that behind the scenes the Tigers had been busy. Domio’s commitment is a big first boom and chances are good it’s not the only one Auburn gets this month from secondary prospects. Auburn is hoping 4* S Chris Thompson spurns the instate Longhorns tomorrow though that looks doubtful at the moment. More likely, someone like JUCO 4* CB Brian George or 4* CB Kendall Dennis pop. Either way, Auburn looks to be positioned well to land an outstanding DB class in this cycle.
War Eagle Marco!
