On Monday, we talked about K.T. Harrell’s 25 point game against the Gamecocks back in 2014. However, he was not the only Auburn Tigers who scored 25 in that game. With 44 days til tip-off, today we look at one of several big offensive performances from Chris Denson. While today is Denson’s first apperance in the countdown, it certainly won’t be his last.
Total Points: 25
Date: February 5, 2014
Opponent: at South Carolina
Final Score: Auburn 79 South Carolina 74
Along with Harrell, Denson scored 25 points which means that 2 players accounted for over 60% of Auburn’s scoring that day. On a team that averaged 71.5 points per game, Denson and Harrell combined to average 37.4 points a game, over half, so this honestly nothing too far out of the norm for the 2013-2014 Auburn Basketball team. Only 2 other players on Auburn’s roster had more than 4 points so Harell and Denson truly carried the Tigers in this one.
The Columbus, Georgia native was 8-12 from the field, 3-4 from 3-point range, and 6-9 from the free throw line. This game was the 3rd straight SEC win for Auburn that season but the Tigers would only win 3 more games that season.
Tomorrow at #43, we are going all the way back to the last season of Jeff Lebo’s time in Auburn, the 2009-2010 season.
