The calendar turns to October, and the temperature has started to feel rather spooky around the Southeast. You might wake up and feel that crisp fall nip when you let the dog out and get the paper. You might shiver a bit walking in from your car at night. It’s not light until 8 o’clock anymore. October arrived and with it, real college football season came alongside.

Auburn will play Georgia under the lights on Saturday night in a game meant for November and Amen Corner. Now, it’s more like Amen Turnpike with the chief rivals spaced out over the course of two months. Georgia? In October? It was going to be planned this way originally, but now the Bulldogs pop up on the schedule earlier than ever.

Could we see a turning point in Gus Malzahn’s career on Saturday? He’s winless in Athens, Tuscaloosa, and Baton Rouge. This may be one of the best chances to get that elusive first road victory against one of the big three. You’re going to want to tune in.
