After going 2-1 in the Maui Invitational, the Tigers returned to the court after a week off and faced the Peacocks of Saint Peter’s. This game was over in a hurry.
After not scoring on the first possession, here is a breakdown of Auburn’s next 5 possessions:
Bryce Brown got it started with a steal and layup. On the next possession, another layup, this one from Anfernee McLemore. Another turnover resulted in a Chuma Okeke layup. Then a missed 3 lead to a 2nd layup from McLemore and the 10-0 start would be capped off by a steal from Jared Harper and a dunk from Anfernee. 10-0 3:40 into the game and Saint Peter’s never recovered.
Saint Peter’s would go nearly 6 minutes before scoring and over 7 minutes before their first field goal.
Auburn was 8-15 in the first half from 3-point range, led by Malik Dunbar’s 3 3-pointers in the 1st half. Anfernee McLemore led Auburn with 11 points as the Tigers led 51-23 at halftime.
The 2nd half was more of the same as McLemore and Jared Harper came out of the locker room each knocking down a 3-pointer.
Auburn would lead by 40 with 15:25 to go on a 3 from Okeke, 65-25. Auburn’s first 50 point lead of the night came with 5 minutes left at 85-35.
But I want to spend the rest of this giving some love to the walk-ons, particular Auburn’s own Preston Cook.
Cook would bring the Auburn bench and house down in the closing moments with a steal and dunk.

Fellow walk-on Chase Maasdorp also made a 3 late in this game, one of 15 3s Auburn made on the evening. The Tigers finished 15-31 from 3 in this game.
Anfernee McLemore and Bryce Brown each led the way with 19 points each. Austin Wiley continued to do good work off the bench adding 16 points and 9 rebounds off the bench. Malik Dunbar had 14 points and Chuma Okeke scored 12 points and had 6 rebounds.
Here are the highlights!
