It’s been awhile since Auburn has had some good news on the recruiting trail. It’s felt like ever since the 2020 season kicked off, things have been going sideways for the Tigers recruiting. Not anymore...
Tonight, 3-star WR Hal Presley announced on Twitter he will be an Auburn Tiger.
Auburn offered Presley in early May only to see him commit to Baylor a week later. However, Auburn never backed off and continued to make Presley a top priority. Two weeks ago, Presley decided to reopen his recruitment with Auburn and USC emerging as his top 2 schools. The buzz though was all Tigers and tonight Chad Morris got his man.
Presley is having a monster senior season. Through only 5 games he’s caught 19 passes for 468 yards and EIGHT touchdowns. A big man at 6’3” 190 lbs, Presley has some impressive top end speed that makes him a legitimate deep threat. It’s hard not to be excited about his potential as a 9 man in Auburn’s system given that combination of length and burst. There’s a very good chance Auburn will be down its top 3 wide receivers after this season so the Arlington, TX native will have an opportunity to see some early playing time as a freshman.
There’s been some rough misses this cycle but the majority of those have actually been on the defensive side of the ball. Auburn’s 2021 offensive class is impressive especially when considering what Auburn signed last signing day.
Presley also gives Auburn a 4th Texan in this class, all on the offensive side of the ball joining Dematrius Davis, Jaeden Roberts and Landen King. He’s technically Auburn’s first WR commit of this class though it’s important to remember Malcolm Johnson Jr. reclassified and Tar’varish Dawson could also see time on offense. The Tigers though will likely take one more wideout this class.
War Eagle Hal!
