It sure seems like the gap from the win over LSU on Halloween and tomorrow’s kickoff will be almost as long as the one we had to endure to even reach the college football season. And yet, we’ll get to see Auburn play football again in Jordan-Hare Stadium in the month of November.
With the push of the Mississippi State game to December 12th, Auburn went through a bye week and the postponement, and will have spent 21 solid days without a competitive football match on the docket. Now, Tennessee comes to town, and this game honestly feels like a season reset.
Auburn was flying high after demolishing the defending national champion LSU 48-11 on Halloween, while Tennessee was in the absolute dumpster. The Vols had lost four straight games, with listless efforts coming after the excellent first half where they led Georgia in Athens. Since then, they put up 37 total points in three losses — all double-digit defeats — and have looked worse and worse each week.
With three weeks off between games, everything can change, though. We really don’t know what to expect tomorrow night, who will be out due to COVID, and how the teams will respond after a lengthy break. You’ll definitely want to tune in. Weather should be lovely for the first home night game of the season.
