4-Star Defensive Tackle Lee Hunter Sticks With Auburn

Huge piece of Auburn’s signing class is in place.

This is a big one folks.

One of the biggest story lines heading into today for Auburn was whether or not 4-star DT Lee Hunter would sign with the Tigers. He committed back in December of 2019 and has remained loyal to Auburn ever since. However, he’s consistently put out cryptic tweets implying that he’s still listening to other programs and he’s often been mentioned by other team insiders as a possible flip candidate. With Gus Malzahn being fired on Sunday and there being uncertainty around whether or not Kevin Steele will still be on the Plains moving forward, there was fear that Hunter might bolt.

He didn’t.

Today, Hunter made things official and will be an Auburn Tiger.

247 Evaluation

Evaluated: Barton Simmons (4/12/2020)

Projection: 4-7 Round (Day 3)

Comparison: Montravius Adams

Desired defensive line body type with big chest, broad shoulders, size and length. Space-eating body type. Plays all along the line and shows enough athleticism to play edge in high school. Jarring punch at the line of scrimmage. One of the more powerful defensive linemen in the 2020 class in terms of his ability to re-establish the line of scrimmage. Has a nasty bulrush and one-armed stab. Shows good pursuit athleticism for a bigger defender. Strictly a power player. Doesn’t show a lot of redirection or movement versatility. Best suited as a nose or shade technique but body and upside could push him towards a more well-rounded game. We view as an impact Power Five starter that has early round NFL Draft upside.

War Eagle Lee!
