This Wednesday is National Signing Day but considering Auburn already has 23 signees and 2 more commits, most of their work for the 2020 cycle is done. That’s why the staff has already begun to switch their focus to next year’s 2021 class hosting a major Junior Day on campus right now. One of those visitors is 3* DB Phillip O’Brien who just told reporters that he’s want to be an Auburn Tiger.
O’Brien’s offer list is durn impressive listing Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Florida State and plenty of other amongst it. Deerfield Beach tends to pump out elite talent and I suspect by this time next year this kid’s rating will be much higher. A nice early pickup for this 2021 class.
What first jumps out on O’Brien’s tape is his playmaking ability. Footballs seem to have a magnetic attraction to this kid which ain’t a bad thing for a defensive back. He’s also a very fluid athlete which means he could play corner or safety at the next level depending on his development. What also stands out is his relentless effort. He doesn’t give up on a play willing to put his head down and chase down any ball carriers to present a score. He’s got the toolset to grow into a talented defensive back at the next level.
Auburn is off to a strong start in the 2021 class holding pledges from two of the top players in the state, a highly ranked quarterback and now a talented FL DB whose offer list features plenty of heavy hitters. The Tigers have a chance to put together an outstanding class once again next cycle.
War Eagle Phillip!
