Coming Soon to a Jungle near you: THOR!!!
In what is the beginning of a 2 week stretch where 3 Top 60 players will announce their college decision between Auburn and a few other school, the first domino to fall went Auburn’s way Sunday morning as Georgia forward J.T. Thor committed to Auburn over Oklahoma State and UCLA.
Thor is a 6’10” forward who initially was in the 2021 class before reclassifying to the Class of 2020. J.T. played at the prestigious Huntington Prep School before transferring to play his final year of High School ball at Norcross High School in Norcross, Georgia. The southpaw is long and extremely athletic that handles the ball well and is an excellent finisher in the paint.
J.T. was long to be considered a lock to Oklahoma State before making an unofficial visit to Auburn on senior night against Texas A&M March 4th. Thor came away impressed with the visit so much that he was hoping to return to Auburn as quickly as possible for an official visit. With the COVID-19 taking over the U.S. a week after his visit, those plans were obviously changed but the Tigers continued to gain momentum over the past month with Thor.
Thor was ranked 51st by 247 Sports, a four-star prospect, and considered the 8th best Power Forward in the 2020 class. Thor joins Sharife Cooper, Isaac Okoro, Chuma Okeke, Bryce Brown, Jared Harper and others who have left the Atlanta area to come play for Auburn in the Bruce Pearl era.
Thor joins Cooper, Chris Moore and Justin Powell as members of the 2020 Auburn recruiting class. Auburn still has 2 scholarships left and await decisions over the next 2 Fridays from Jalen Green and Greg Brown. Auburn’s class needed at least one more big man and Thor will help solidify Auburn’s frontcourt next season. Welcome to the Auburn family J.T. and War Eagle!
