Auburn fans were hoping for a BOOM today and got one, just not the one anyone was expecting. 3* OT J’Marion Gooch announced this evening he plans on being an Auburn Tiger.

Gooch chose Auburn over offers from Florida State, Ole Miss, Oregon, Tennessee and others.
First off, the young man is freaking 6’8” 350 lbs!!! Unsurprisingly, that makes him a bit of a matchup nightmare for his opponents on Friday night. Despite his large size, Gooch moves extremely well. Powerful, Gooch is a consistent finisher who seems to take delight in driving defenders into the ground. He will need to learn not to play so high which isn’t a shock considering how big a kid he is right now. He’s also not facing the greatest of competition but Gooch dominates like he should against it and clearly has the skillset to develop at the next level.
Offensive tackle recruiting has been unpleasant for the Tigers in recent season so it’s great to see them get off to a fast start this cycle landing a commit from the high school ranks. While Gooch doesn’t sport the flashiest of ratings, he’s got an impressive offer list and clearly Jack Bicknell is high on his upside accepting his commitment this early in the process.
War Eagle J’Marion!
