You thought Auburn was done huh? THERE ARE NO BRAKES ON THE GUS BUS TODAY FOLKS!!!
A normal Friday became a good one when 3* ATH Tar’varish Dawson committed to Auburn. It became a great one when the Tigers added 4* OT Caleb Johnson. But three commits in one day? Two coming from prep offensive tackle prospects? That’s impossible...
Turns out it’s not as 3* OT Garner Langlo joined his teammate Johnson in announcing his commitment to the Tigers.
Langlo’s recruitment has picked up considerable steam in recent weeks with Auburn, Florida State, NC State, Baylor and Mississippi State all offering. Georgia Tech was seen as the frontrunner until the Tigers and Noles got involved. All of a sudden, Jack Bicknell has a 3 man class made up of strictly offensive tackles from the high school ranks. Strange times.
Interestingly, Langlo plays left guard for his high school program but his future is likely on the outside given his size. But that versatility could play an important role to Langlo seeing the field for the Tigers as he can help Auburn in a number of different spots. While not as fleet footed as his more highly ranked teammate Caleb Johnson, Langlo might be more powerful. There’s an edge to his game you love to see in an offensive lineman and his raw strength makes him a candidate to find a way into the two deep relatively early in his career.
To start today, Auburn had four commits and were ranked #50 overall. All of a sudden, they now have 7 commits and are ranked #28 by 247 Composite. Not a bad Friday on the Plains.
Auburn is likely done for the day but chances are good this momentum should continue in the coming weeks. 4* QB Dematrius Davis could be closing in on a decision and Auburn is pushing hard for 4* Buck Jeremiah Williams. You also have to think the Tigers are giving Langlo and Johnson’s teammate 3* C Jake Slaughter (FSU Commit) a lot to think about.
I expect the Tigers to try and land at least two more OL in this class with a focus on 5* Amarius Mims, 5* Tommy Brockermeyer, 4* James Brockermeyer, 4* Dylan Fairchild and 4* Jaeden Roberts. Add any of those to this class and Bicknell’s first group will be an unmitigated success. Either way, it’s off to a fantastic start.
War Eagle Garner!
