After not having much to talk about in regards to Auburn’s recruiting, things have suddenly gotten VERY chatty. Following a weekend that saw the Tigers land commitments from four prospects in three days, Auburn kept things rolling with another commit this afternoon, this time from a 2022 prospect. Brian Dilworth out of Hollywood, FL announced today on Twitter that he’s committing to Auburn.
Per 247, Dilworth holds 10 offers including Kentucky, Louisville, Miami and Minnesota. He’s not yet rated by recruiting service which isn’t unusual for a rising junior.
Starting at cornerback for Chaminade-Madonna Prep as a sophomore is no easy feat considering the amount of talent that has come out of that program in recent years. Dilworth is the 3rd Lion to commit to the Tigers since 2017 joining Shaun Shivers and Elijah Canion.
Watching his tape, it’s easy to see why the Tigers were happy to accept his commitment so early. Dilworth is a 6’0” 175 lb athlete with great length and instincts. He excels at reading the quarterback’s or wide receiver’s eyes to get good jumps on the ball for big plays. He’s a solid tackler which should only improve as he gets stronger. A solid early pickup for Wesley McGriff.
Auburn now has 2 pledges in its 2022 class, both listed as cornerbacks. Obviously it being this early in next year’s cycle it’s hard to get too excited about any commitments. I tend to take commitments like this more as a strong statement that the Tigers are the team to beat in the very early going. But it sure doesn’t hurt to get some kids on board that are ready to start building for the future.
War Eagle Brian!
