November 14, 2016 - Auburn Arena
This was the first of 4 games associated with the Cancun Challenge for the Tigers. Auburn was just 7-21 from 3-point range but 4 of those were made by #1. Jared Harper was 4-6 from 3 and also had 3 steals to go with his 19 points.
Danjel Purifoy played just 3 minutes in the 1st half due to picking up 2 fouls but scored 17 of his 19 points in the 2nd half.
Auburn had 2 others in double figures with Horace Spencer scoring 12 points and Mustapha Heron had 10 points (8 from the free throw line) along with 8 rebounds.
Auburn led 35-30 at halftime and led 39-37 4 minutes into the 2nd half before Harper and Purifoy would key an 8-0 run to put Auburn up by double figures for the first time. After that point, the Panthers wouldn’t get closer than 7 the rest of the way.
The biggest highlight from this game was with about 3 minutes left when T.J. Dunans threw a behind the back pass to Horace Spencer who finished with a tomahawk jam as the Tigers would finish off Georgia State from there.
Here are the game highlights!
