When Gus Malzahn was fired in December just days before the start of the Early Signing Period, long time Auburn commit 3-star Tar’Varish Dawson announced that he would wait to sign in February.
I will not be signing Wednesday. I will push my signing day back in February to make sure I make the right decision .— Tarvarish Dawson5️⃣ (@TarvarishD) December 15, 2020
That was ominous news at the time especially as a number of other big time programs immediately offered the Florida native. Most notably, Texas A&M jumped into his recruitment hoping to steal away the pledge from their SEC West rival.
However, not long after Bryan Harsin’s arrival, he immediately got in contact with Dawson to let him know that Auburn still wanted him. Even with plenty of pressure from the Aggies, Dawson decided to stick with his Auburn pledge and today officially signed with the Tigers.

I think Dawson is one of the top 5 players in Auburn’s 2021 class. He had one of the best senior seasons of any Auburn signee. He played both ways for Lehigh Senior carrying the ball 34 times for 290 yards (8.5 ypc) and six touchdowns, catching 31 passes for 650 yards (21 ypc) and six touchdowns, and picking off SEVEN passes. He’s a playmaker that I expect to see early action for the Tigers.
War Eagle Tar’Varish!
