The man from Bayou La Batre catches a touchdown

Over the years, we’ve done different countdowns to kickoff (or tipoff). This year, we’re putting a twist on the classic “Best Auburn Player to Ever Wear Each Number” list. Football is all about lighting up the scoreboard in 2021, so let’s take a walk down memory lane and review the last time a player in each uniform number put up points.

#45 — Brandon Johnson, FB

Game — Auburn vs. Georgia, November 16, 2002

This is an absolutely beautiful play-fake of counter-left from under center, with the fullback leaking out into the flat. When you’ve got a great running game, let it work for you in the passing game:

That’s all I’m writing about this. It’s been 19 years and this game is still too dadgum painful to relive. War Damn Brandon Johnson though. That dude was a warrior. I’m pretty sure he’s still the last Auburn player to have multiple carries on offense and multiple tackles on defense (and recover a fumble) in the same game.
