It was a game to forget for most fans, but Canion’s first touchdown was a beauty.

Over the years, we’ve done different countdowns to kickoff (or tipoff). This year, we’re putting a twist on the classic “Best Auburn Player to Ever Wear Each Number” list. Football is all about lighting up the scoreboard in 2021, so let’s take a walk down memory lane and review the last time a player in each uniform number put up points.

#18 — Elijah Canion, WR

Game — Auburn vs Northwestern, 1/1/2020

Let’s not dwell on the game, yeah?

La

te in the first half, Auburn runs play-action out of 11 personnel. The corner covering Canion bit hard on the fake, and without any help over the top from a safety, Canion was wide open.

It wasn’t the best throw or ball placement, but it was enough to get the job done. Canion raced up field for 57 yards, stiff-arming the pursuing defender on his way into the endzone.

With 2020 being Canion’s freshman year, safe to say he’ll be the main #17 to score for a while in Auburn. For our sake, let’s hope he’s in the endzone early and often next year.
