you probably guessed the player, but did you know the game?

NCAA Football: Louisiana State at Auburn John Reed-USA TODAY Sports

Over the years, we’ve done different countdowns to kickoff (or tipoff). This year, we’re putting a twist on the classic “Best Auburn Player to Ever Wear Each Number” list. Football is all about lighting up the scoreboard in 2021, so let’s take a walk down memory lane and review the last time a player in each uniform number put up points.

#4 — Tank Bigsby, RB

Game — Auburn vs. LSU, October 31, 2020

I knew Tank dealt with injuries down the stretch, but if you’d asked me when he scored his last touchdown of 2020, I wouldn’t have guessed the LSU game.

Tank was good against LSU with 15 carries for 71 yards and 2 touchdowns. Both scores came in the third quarter, and the second of them was a cake walk.

This is a major alignment issue by LSU here. LSU has 6 defenders to the right side of the formation, which more or less matches what Auburn is showing with a two tight-end look. However, when Stove goes in motion, Auburn now has an overload to the left. The safety widens to account for Stove, the linebacker to that side picks the wrong gap, and Tank strolls into the end zone.

I’m going to go out on a limb and say Tank’s touchdown drought doesn’t last past the first two games of 2021.
