After scraping together two runs in a Friday night win over Alabama, Auburn's offense couldn't do much in Game 2 Saturday night. The Tigers collected just three hits in a 4-1 loss at Sewell-Thomas Stadium.

Justin Kamplain (3-2) was excellent for the Crimson Tide, giving up a run, three hits and three walks while striking out five in 8 2/3 innings. He entered the game with a 4.06 ERA, but threw 125 pitches and dominated the Tigers' lineup. It continued a trend of Auburn struggling against less-than-top-notch pitching. Thomas Burrows got the final out for his fifth save.

Alabama (23-11, 9-5 SEC) took a 2-0 lead thanks to a Kyle Overstreet leadoff homer in the fourth and a Wade Wass RBI infield single in the fifth. The Tide doubled their advantage in the seventh when two runs scored on a Chance Vincent infield single and throwing error by Auburn third baseman Connor Short. With the way the Tigers were swinging, the 4-0 lead was insurmountable.

Auburn (21-15, 6-8) scored its only run in the top of the ninth. Blake Austin connected on a one-out double and came home three batters later when Damon Haecker hit a two-out single to left. The Tigers had the potential tying run at the plate, but Dan Glevenyak ended the game with a pop fly to shortstop.

Austin finished the night 1-for-4. Haecker and Jordan Ebert went 1-for-3.

After normal Saturday starter Keegan Thompson closed out Friday night's win, senior lefty Michael O'Neal (2-4) was moved up a day in the rotation. O'Neal took the loss, allowing a run on five hits and two walks in three innings. He struck out three.Trey Cochran-Gill pitched 3 1/3 innings of relief and gave up three runs -- two earned -- on seven hits and one walk while picking up two Ks. Jay Wade went the final 1 2/3 innings. Wade struck out two and allowed one hit.

The Tigers and Tide will play for the series win Sunday at 1 p.m. CT. Terrance Dedrick, normally Auburn's closer, will get the start for the visitors.
