Ex-Ole Miss OL Austin Golson transferring to Auburn

The former blue chip prospect will be eligible in 2015.

John Reed-USA TODAY Sports

Austin Golson, a former Ole Miss offensive linemen who spent one year with the Rebels, will transfer to Auburn. Golson, out of Prattville, is making the move to be closer to family and, barring a hardship waiver, will be eligible to play in 2015.

A member of Ole Miss' Class of 2013, he was rated as a four-star recruit by the 247sports composite. Listed on the official roster as 6'5 and 309 pounds, he played in 12 games at right guard for the Rebels last season and was projected to be the No. 1 at right tackle this year. He will walk on at Auburn and have three years of eligibility remaining.

Where, exactly, Golson will fit in on Auburn's offensive line remains to be seen. The Tigers' projected rotation for 2014 includes only two seniors, center Reese Dismukes and guard Chad Slade, so Auburn might bring back a deep and experienced unit in 2015. However, early defections to the NFL Draft are certainly possible, and no matter what, it's never a bad thing to add more quality talent on the O-line.
