With Big Cat Weekend having already paid off with a commitment from Jakell Mitchell Saturday morning, Auburn added another Saturday evening when cornerback Nick Ruffin gave his pledge to the Tigers. Ruffin is Auburn's ninth commit in the Class of 2014.
Proud to say that I will be a war eagle for the rest of my days so blessed #Wareaglenation #WDE

Ruffin is a consensus four-star prospect, listed at cornerback by Rivals and 247Sports and as an athlete by ESPN. His height and weight vary a bit depending on the recruiting service. ESPN has him at 6'1, 185 pounds, while Rivals says he's 6'0, 172. 247Sports is right in the middle, listing Ruffin at 6'0.5 and 180 pounds.
Like so many of Auburn's commits in this cycle, Ruffin's primary recruiter was Dameyune Craig. He had 24 offers from various SEC and national powers and chose the Tigers over Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia and LSU, among others.
In addition to his time in the secondary, Ruffin plays running back for St. Pius X (Atlanta) School. He's shown great agility and a penchant for breaking tackles, and even if he doesn't play on offense in college, it wouldn't be a surprise if he made an impact in the return game. On defense, he typically plays off the line of scrimmage, but he can make up ground in coverage and deliver the big hit.
Ruffin is the sixth four-star Class of '14 player to commit to Auburn.
