National Signing Day 2014: Auburn commit Tre' Williams signs National Letter of Intent

Williams should eventually be a standout linebacker on the Plains.

John Reed-USA TODAY Sports

Linebacker Tre' Williams, one of the top players in the Class of 2014 and a longtime Auburn commit, made his pledge to the Tigers official on Wednesday, National Signing Day. Thomas signed his National Letter of Intent, making him a member of Gus Malzahn's program.

Williams, out of Mobile (Ala.) St. Paul's Episcopal, is rated as a five-star prospect by the 247Sports composite, and listed as the 29th-best player in the current recruiting cycle. He's ranked No. 2 among all inside linebackers and No. 4 among players from the state of Alabama. He committed to Auburn on May 8, 2013, and never wavered, acting as a recruiter in an attempt to strengthen the Tigers' 2014 class..

Williams stands 6'3 and weighs in at 237 pounds. He held scholarship offers from 14 schools around the country and chose the Tigers over top programs such as Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, LSU and USC

He already has good size and should be able to bulk up even more in a college strength-and-conditioning program. Williams at linebacker will mean bad news for opposing running backs and receivers coming across the middle. He's a physical player who knows how to levy a big hit.
