Kamryn Pettway, a big Class of 2014 running back and a longtime Auburn commit, made his pledge to the Tigers official on Wednesday, National Signing Day. Pettway faxed in his National Letter of Intent, making him a member of Gus Malzahn's program.
Pettway, out of Prattville (Ala.) High School, is rated as a three-star prospect by the 247Sports composite, and listed as the 408th-best player in the current recruiting cycle. He's ranked No. 27 among all running backs and No. 12 among players from the state of Alabama. He committed to Auburn on March 3, 2013, and never wavered.
Pettway stands 5'11.5 and weighs in at 221 pounds, and he runs a reported 4.46-second 40-yard dash, though that seems like a bit of a stretch. He held scholarship offers from five schools in the Southeast and chose the Tigers over Florida State, Georgia, Kentucky and South Alabama.
Auburn is loaded at running back, but having a power runner in the backfield is never a bad thing. Pettway will immediately be one of Auburn's biggest backs -- maybe the biggest.
