National Signing Day 2014: Top OG Braden Smith commits to Auburn

Braden Smith, one of the top offensive linemen in the Class of 2014 made his college choice on Wednesday, National Signing Day. Smith announced on ESPNU that he will play his college ball at Auburn.

Smith, out of Olathe South High School in Olathe, Kan., is rated as a four-star prospect by the 247Sports composite, and listed as the 63rd-best player in the current recruiting cycle. He's ranked No. 3 among all offensive guards and No. 1 among players from the state of Kansas. He committed to the Tigers despite strong pushes from TCU and Texas A&M.

Smith stands 6'6 and weighs in at 290 pounds, and he recently put up three reps at 515 pounds on the bench press. He held scholarship offers from 25 schools around the country and chose the Tigers over top programs such as Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Stanford and USC.

Smith has good size and incredible strength for an offensive lineman. With Auburn's O-line being so deep and talented, he might not make a big impact right away, but he'll definitely make an impact at some point for the Tigers. Bud Elliott, SB Nation's recruiting analyst, is awfully impressed with Smith:

Smith tests extremely well. He runs the 40 well, and he is very strong on the bench press. He plays in a wing-t offense, and most of his plays are run blocking. Smith does not play great competition, and more often than not overwhelms his opposition. He has a good initial punch, and when he plays low, can really finish off blocks using his leg drive. Smith has good speed in the open field to reach players at the second level, and is quick at the snap.
