Mitchell is a versatile tight end.

Jakell Mitchell, a solid tight end prospect in the Class of 2014 and a longtime Auburn commit, made his pledge to the Tigers official on Wednesday, National Signing Day. Mitchell faxed in his National Letter of Intent, making him a member of Gus Malzahn's program.

Mitchell, a local kid out of Opelika High School, is rated as a three-star prospect by the 247Sports composite, and listed as the 439th-best player in the current recruiting cycle. He's ranked No. 17 among all running backs and No. 13 mong players from the state of Alabama. He committed to Auburn on May 25, 2013, and never wavered.

Mitchell stands 6'3 and weighs in at 214 pounds. He held scholarship offers from 12 schools around the country and chose the Tigers over top programs such as Alabama, Florida, Florida State, LSU and Wisconsin.

Mitchell doesn't have a lot of accolades, but he's probably underrated due to a torn ACL that kept him out for the entirety of his senior year in high school. He should provide a nice receiving and blocking option for the Tigers.
