Auburn didn’t add too many defensive linemen to this year’s class. The lone defensive tackle in this year’s class is Alec Jackson from Jefferson Davis High School in Montgomery who has now made his commitment official with his LOI sent in to the Tigers.
Jackson is a 3* according to most major services, but his offer list was substantial for all that. Most of the top schools in the SEC offered him according to his 247Sports profile. He committed to Auburn back on Christmas Day, when we had this to say about his pledge.
Auburn loves having a lot of depth at the defensive line position. Rodney Garner rotates players in and out all the time. With a few defensive linemen departing - including star Montravius Adams, there will be places for Jackson to come in and contribute. One player he’ll be competing against is Byron Cowart, who is going to move inside this season.
There is a chance he’ll be redshirting, though. The Tigers redshirted a few linemen last season, after all.
Welcome to the class, Alec. I know Jackson grew up an Auburn fan, so it’s always fun to see guys like that end up in orange and blue. War Eagle!
