Not exactly the happiest way to start what’s supposed to be a strong day for the Tigers eh? This has been a bizarre recruitment that ended in disappointment for Auburn. 3* DT LeDarrius Cox has long been seen as a major AU flip candidate from Tennessee after landing an offer from the Tigers in June. A flip did indeed happen, just to the wrong team...
BREAKING: McGill-Toolen (Ala.) NG LeDarrius Cox has committed and signed with Ole Miss, flipping from the University of Tennessee, and choosing the Rebels over Auburn. Ole Miss did some nice work in the state of Alabama last cycle and that’s continuing in 2019. The Rebels are in desperate need of defensive help and appear to have successfully sold Cox on being someone that can help provide it. This is a huge win on the trail for Matt Luke’s squad.
For Auburn, this is a pretty disappointing way to start the day. The Tigers have 19 commitments currently and are hoping to add six more today. One of those was supposed to be Cox. 4* DL Charles Moore is expected to make his decision in an hour and Auburn is a contender but that recruitment has been even wilder so it’s far from certain the Tigers will be the pick. Keep an eye on former Auburn commit 3* DL Jamond Gordon. If AU misses on Moore as well, you might see the Tigers circle back to the Mississippi native and see if he wants back on board.
This next announcement is now even bigger for the Tigers. Gotta snag Moore to finish off this defensive line class.
