Not something you see every day but Auburn just landed a halftime commit. 4* DB Ladarius Tennison has reportedly committed to Auburn.
BREAKING: 4-star safety Ladarius Tennison (@almighty__Tenn5) said via text he has committed to #Auburn. Huge pickup for secondary coach @coachcrimedawg and the Tigers. More HERE … https://t.co/274du3c5Yk pic.twitter.com/Maow7srjkL— Keith Niebuhr (@Keith247Sports) September 15, 2019
Tennison cut his top list down to Auburn, Florida, Miami and North Carolina with the Canes likely Auburn’s top challenger. Tennison was at one point a Cane commit but reopened things after Mark Richt’s departure. Auburn had been trending the right way in his recruitment for some time but it was the War Eagle Picnic event at the end of July that appears to have sealed the deal.
Whew... Tennison is the definition of a “lil ball of hate”. He’s insanely fast and is unafraid of contact. In fact, it’s a bit scary how he blasts some of these kids. As a running back you can see the agility, as a DB you can see the hate. His diminutive stature obviously makes him a bit of a liability in man coverage against longer wideouts but that’s not how I expect Auburn to use him. He will most likely start out at nickel but could also play free safety in the Tigers’ system. Auburn made him a priority early this cycle and never let up. Got a feeling he’s gonna quickly become a fan favorite.
Tennison is Auburn’s 3rd straight DB commit, all blue chip prospects. The Tigers will likely sign at least two more with 4* CB Kendall Dennis, 4* CB Brian George, 4* DB Eric Reed Jr and CB Emmanuel Appiah-Tahki being the likely candidates. Given the amount of experience and production Auburn will be losing out of the back end of their defense after this season, this type of DB class comes just at the right time for the Tigers.
War Eagle Ladarius!
